Secrets of Organ Playing Improvisation Contest Week 3
Have you ever wanted to start to improvise on the organ but found yourself sidetracked after a few days? Apparently your inner motivation wasn't enough.
I know how you feel. I also was stuck many times. What helped me was to find some external motivation as well.
In order for you to advance your improvisation skills and help you motivate to practice, my wife Ausra - @laputis and I invite you to join in a contest to submit your improvisations on the organ and win some SBD.
Are you an experienced organist? You can participate easily. Are you a beginner? No problem. This contest is open to every organ improvisation loving Steemian.
Upload your improvisation on DSound (audio) or DTube (video) with a description (how you felt, what you did, what was exciting, what went well, what could be improved etc.)
The length must be between 2 and 10 minutes. Make it interesting.
Your improvisation has to follow this contest theme.
This improvisation has to be original and played by you.
Performance on pipe and electronic organs are valid.
Use #organduo as your first tag.
Upvote and Resteem this post.
Comment this post with link to your entry so people can see and listen to it.
The contest is open until Monday, May 21, 12:00 PM UTC.
Use only these four pitches in your improvisation exclusively Bb-C-D-Eb. You are free to jump between octaves, manuals, use these pitches in any order, any texture, rhythm, meter, registration, dynamic level and form to make it interesting. The use of pedals is encouraged but not required. Here's my example:
Every participating entry will receive our upvotes (my upvote is currently worth around $0.63). Additionally, 3 winners will share ALL LIQUID SBD (Steem Dollars) raised for this post in the following manner:
1st Place: 50 % Liquid SBD raised after payout
2nd Place: 30 % Liquid SBD raised after payout
3rd Place: 20 % Liquid SBD raised after payout
@laputis and I will serve as judges. We will pick winners based on what sounded the most interesting to us. Since there will be only 4 notes in your improvisation, we're sure improvisers of all levels of advancement will be able to play something interesting.
Our goal here is to support the community while inspiring to create some amazing improvisations and add more smiles to everyone's day.
