Fulfillment of Messianic Prophecy by Jesus #66

Gen 22:18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

The Messiah Would Come through Abraham

Abraham was on of the most pivotal people in all of history. He is called “The Father of Faith”, as he believed God. He was counted righteous before God before he was circumcised. He merely believed God, but also his faith was real as he left family and country at the command and leading of God.

Note that the promise is that the one seed, singular, not though all of your offspring or seeds. Some say the “seed” was speaking of Issac and even some say the “seed” refers to Ishmael. If we read the Bible and believe what it says, we can see even through this passage that it infers to Isaac.

God Speaks to Isaac

Gen 26:1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
Gen 26:2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
Gen 26:3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
Gen 26:4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
Gen 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

“Through Abraham’s Seed All Nations Would be blessed”

Somehow through this one seed, all nations would be blessed. Isaac was a blessing but not to all Nations. He definitely was in the lineage that the Messiah was promised, but this promise was that one singular seed would bless every Nation.

The thought of “one seed” was all the way back to the Garden of Eden

Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

This Could Only Be Fulfilled by One - JESUS CHRIST

Act 3:25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
Act 3:26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

As I have said many times, the Old Testament is only truly understood through the New Testament and the entire Bible is only understood through Jesus Christ.

Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Gal 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Gal 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Gal 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
